- Exams only if you want them. Many children play purely for enjoyment. Graded exam preparation is optional, whenever your child is ready.

FAQs: Beginner Piano Program
Is 7 a good age to start piano lessons?
Yes. At 7, most children can read simply, focus well in a lesson and enjoy learning step by step, which makes it a great age to begin one-to-one lessons.
Does my child have to take exams?
No. Exam preparation is optional. Many children learn purely for enjoyment, and those who want graded exams can move into our ABRSM programme at any time.
My child has never played before. Is that okay?
Absolutely. The programme starts with the basics and moves at your child's pace.
