About Classes
What if my child is shy or very active? Will they fit in?
Absolutely! Our teachers are trained to work with all temperaments. For shy children, we create gentle entry points – they can observe first, participate at their own pace, and gradually build confidence. For active children, our classes incorporate plenty of movement, so their energy becomes an asset rather than a challenge. We've seen shy children blossom into confident performers, and energetic children learn to channel their enthusiasm productively.
Do I need any musical background as a parent?
Not at all! For parent-accompanied classes (18 months – 3 years), you don't need to sing perfectly or play any instrument. Your role is simply to be present, participate alongside your child, and model engagement. Our teachers guide everything. Many parents tell us they rediscovered their own love of music through these classes!
How big are the classes?
We maintain a 1:5 teacher-student ratio to ensure each child receives attention and has space to participate. This allows for meaningful group interaction while maintaining individual focus.
Do parents join the class?
For our youngest group (Orffie Explorers, 18 months – 3 years), yes! Parents or caregivers participate alongside their children. It's a wonderful bonding experience. As children progress to Orffie Scholars (3-4 years), they gradually become independent, though parents can observe from our waiting area with visibility into the classroom.

Getting Started
What if my child doesn't enjoy the class after the trial?
That's perfectly okay – and exactly why we offer free trial classes. Not every child connects with every activity, and we never want families to feel pressured. If your child doesn't seem to enjoy it, there's no obligation to continue. Sometimes children need a few sessions to warm up, so we're happy to discuss what we observed and whether another trial might help.
How do I choose the right time slot?
We offer various weekday and weekend slots to accommodate different family schedules. During your trial enquiry, share your preferences and we'll suggest available options that work for your child's age group. We try to schedule classes when children are typically most alert and receptive – not too close to nap times or mealtimes.
What should my child bring to class?
Comfortable clothing that allows for movement, and socks (we prefer children to be barefoot or in socks on our mats). For younger children, bring their usual bag with water, snacks, and any comfort items. We provide all instruments and materials needed for class.
Can we change time slots if our schedule changes?
We understand that family schedules can shift. We accommodate slot changes where possible, subject to availability in the desired session. Just speak with our team and we'll do our best to find a solution.

Learning & Progress
How does play-based learning lead to real piano skills?
Great question! Our play-based approach isn't random – it's carefully designed to build foundational skills. Through movement, children develop body awareness and coordination. Through singing and rhythm games, they internalise pulse, pitch, and pattern recognition. Through keyboard exploration games, they learn the geography of the piano. By the time children reach formal lessons, they've already developed the physical coordination, listening skills, and musical intuition that make learning piano feel natural rather than overwhelming.
Do you prepare students for piano exams?
Yes, when appropriate and when the child is ready. However, we don't push examinations. Our first priority is always building genuine musical enjoyment and solid foundations. For children who express interest and are developmentally ready, we can absolutely prepare them for graded examinations. But we believe a child who loves playing will go further than a child who passes exams but doesn't enjoy the process.
Is there homework or practice required?
For our youngest learners (18 months – 4 years), there's no formal homework. We encourage parents to sing class songs at home and incorporate music into daily routines, but this should feel natural, not like a chore. For keyboard and piano students, we introduce gentle practice routines, always keeping sessions short and positive. We guide parents on how to support practice without creating battles.
How will I know if my child is making progress?
We provide regular updates and are always happy to discuss your child's development. Progress in young children often looks different than you might expect – it's not just about playing notes correctly. We track engagement, focus duration, social interaction, confidence, and musical awareness. You'll likely notice changes at home too: your child singing class songs, moving rhythmically to music, or asking to 'play piano'.

Practical Matters
Where exactly is the studio located?
We're located at #04-09 Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, 170 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588179. We're easily accessible for families in Bukit Timah, Beauty World, Upper Bukit Timah, and surrounding neighbourhoods. The centre has parking, and we're a short walk from Beauty World MRT.
What are your safety measures?
Child safety is paramount. Our studio is designed with young children in mind – soft mats, secured furniture, age-appropriate instruments. All our teachers are trained in child safety protocols. We maintain clean, hygienic spaces and follow current health guidelines. Parents of young children can observe classes from our waiting area.
What happens if my child is unwell and misses a class?
Please keep unwell children at home – we appreciate parents helping us maintain a healthy environment for all. For illness-related absences, we offer make-up classes where possible, subject to availability. Contact us as soon as possible if your child will miss a session.
Can siblings attend together?
If siblings are in the same age group, they can attend the same class. For different ages, they would be in separate, age-appropriate programmes.
